June, July and August Summer Worship at First Congregational!
We have a fun summer of worship planned to continue to deepen our faith and connections with each other!
Sanctuary Worship: On the first and third Sundays of June, July and August we’ll gather in the sanctuary for worship. Communion will be on the first Sunday of the month. Associate Conference Minister, Sara Marean, will be with us for worship on Sunday June 16 for a conversation on the ministry of the United Church of Christ here in New Hampshire and throughout our nation and world. We’ll be collecting your questions to share with her in the next few weeks.
Brunch Church: On the second Sundays of June (9th) and July (14th) we’ll gather for “Brunch Church” in the Ladies Parlor for a simple worship service of fellowship and feasting. And on August 18, we’ll be taking “Brunch Church” outside to worship in Remich Park.
Worshipping Together: On the fourth Sundays, we are joining with First United Methodist and the Community Church of Christ in Franconia to share worship together. In June we head down Main Street to First United Methodist, in July welcome everyone here to worship with us, and in August take off to Franconia. We will be providing car-pooling from the church – let us know if you’d like a ride. A team member from each of our three churches will be planning and leading worship on each of these Sundays based on scripture texts from the Revised Common Lectionary.
A Church Picnic! We are having a picnic with our three churches on Saturday, June 15 at 1:00 at the Community Church of Christ in Franconia. You can RSVP at church on Sundays or call Pam in the church office. Bring a side dish to share (there is a sign up at the back of the church). The other churches will be providing hamburgers, hotdogs, desserts and beverages. We’ll provide car-pooling from the church at 12:30. Scripture Focus: This Summer we are turning our scripture focus to the “Narrative Lectionary” which provides an opportunity to learn more about a portion of scripture or book of the Bible. In June we’ll focus on learning more about the Lord’s Prayer (Luke 11:2-4) and in July and August we’ll read through one of the “Epistles”, 1 John.
Summer Music: We are treated to Summer Musicians who will provide special music for worship. Some of them will be here 15 minutes before worship to provide a time for quiet and reflection.
Thank You! We are grateful to Mary Menzies, Lars Nielson and Amy Greene who will provide worship coordination this summer. Thank you as well to Elaine Pollak and Dottie Morton who are coordinating summer musicians.

April 7 – Brunch Church! Join us for a fun and delicious way to gather as we share brunch, conversation and worship together! Our scripture today is John 21:1-19. We’ll have a chance to share what we learned in our Lent worship series following Peter’s journey of faith. What has his journey shown you about your own faith? This will be held in the Ladies Parlor!
Holy Week March 24-March 31
The Season of Lent concludes with Holy Week and this year we are delighted to be partnering with our friends and neighbors as we bring the stories of the week to life.
Maundy Thursday – Thursday, March 28 at 6:00pm at Lisbon Landaff Federated Church: We are carpooling to join our friends at the Shared Ministry of Lisbon-Bath for a potluck supper and communion as we remember and mark the Last Supper together. Rev. Lyn Winter shares: Maundy Thursday at the Shared Ministry is a simple potluck -- 'simple' can be just that ...and there will be plenty if empty handed :-) So whatever anyone wants to contribute: Only rule is no desserts. We'll have coffee and waters, so no worries on beverages either. We share the meal and one of the Passover and/or other readings, with food and some fellowship, all downstairs in our meeting room. When the meal is ended we go up to the candlelit Sanctuary for a simple liturgy of prayer, hymn, reading and common cup (tincture) communion. Anyone and everyone welcome to come embrace the significance of that last supper and first communion ~ Thursday, March 28 at 6:00 pm. 49 South Main Street, Lisbon (the big white church). We hope you’ll join us! We’ll meet to carpool over together at 5:30pm.
Good Friday – Friday, March 29 at 6:00pm at the Community Church of Christ in Franconia: We are making worship together tonight with our ecumenical church friends and neighbors as we remember Good Friday. We’ll meet here at the church and carpool over together at 5:30 pm.
Easter Sunday – Sunday, March 31: Join us for an outdoor Sunrise Service with our friends at First United Methodist at the Covered Bridge in Littleton (Riverglen side). Sunrise Bulletin - click here.
And please join us here on Sunday morning at 10am for a special Easter Sunday and coffee hour.
